Why did anyone even use Tumblr?
I drafted through lots of website series and personal web log platforms and through my search I accidentally heard of this site known as "Tumblr". I didn't use it, obviously. The first thing that stood out to me was the name. What even is a Tumblr? Granted, this web site has a strange name too, but it is at least easy for me to remember and understand. For clarification, this site is rather basic. I only chose it since this site could be made with a burner email and password and anything more advanced would require my location. The internet and privacy are practically antonyms these days. I remember a time before all this and before Tumblr, where you had to actually publish your work publically to get a word. Times sure has changed since then. Reflection on the world aside, I got interested in such a strange web site with such a peculiar name. I found how the site had banned the, *ahem*, more adult content from the web. I suppose that was a common use case. What I am more perplexed for, is why anyone would bother to use it even for that. It's clunky and rather inefficient of an experience from what I can find. Other sites exist. I guess I looked into it for more and because it barely had a functional text editor or even working features half the time, it was mostly used as a more complex and worse version of Twitter. People would rant often about their problems or post inane things from their personal lives that probably should have been kept private. I couldn't possibly imagine such a use for it, but I am not most. I suppose there was a demand, that was until it was sold for less than 3 million.
Nice.
